Tai Tam Funny Walk





Tam Country Park, lying in the southern part of Hong Kong Island, mainly consists of a group of four reservoirs, namely, Tai Tam Upper Reservoir, Tai Tam Byewash Reservoir, Tai Tam Intermediate Reservoir and Tai Tam Tuk Reservoir.

Suggest Route......Wong Nai Chung Reservoir-->(Violet Hill Trail)-->Tsin Shui Wan Au-->Tai Tam IntermediateReservoir-->Tai Tam Tuk Reservoir-->Tai Tam Road.
At the gas station near Wong Nai Chung Gap Road, take a few steps up and cross the road. Follow along the path on the right and join the Violet Hill Trail. At the trailhead, head straight, follow the catchment and a dirt path until reaching a crossing.
                                                                                                     
You can find many kind of Butterfly and birds in Tai Tam Country Park, you feel tire? please take a rest and have a seat to enjoy the wonderful natural. If not, you can turn right and descend to Tsin Shui Wan Au. Turn left  and walk towards Tai Tam Reservoir Road. Then head right and cross a couple of bridges, you could finish the hike at Tai Tam Road.

You can take the bus by No:6 at Central (Exchange Square) - Stanley Prison
(Get Off : Wong Nai Chung Reservoir Park) OR
Bus No:63(Weekdays)North Point Ferry Pier - Stanley Prison
(Get Off : Wong Nai Chung Reservoir Park)


For return: Mini Bus No:16M from Tam Tam Road --> Chung Hom Kok --> Chai Wan Railway Station.

Duration: around 2.5 Hours
Distance: 7.5 km
Difficulty: beginner

  1. Great photos of butterflies ! I have hiked along the Tai Tam Reservoir but coming from Mt. Parker Road in Quarry Bay. I will try your suggested route this autumn with the cooler weather. Thanks for sharing !
